Visitation

The purpose of the Visitation ministry is meet the spiritual needs of the members of the congregation who are unable to regularly attend church activities due to illness, rehabilitation, care-giving, suffering grief or who are in need of pastoral care.

The ministry began in 2006 with the Session's recognition of the rapidly expanding need of  pastoral care of its congregation.  A small ministry committee was formed with individuals who felt called into this type of service who would visit individuals and families with the Pastor.

Each member of the Visitation ministry volunteers for a specific week of service during a given month and coordinates with the Pastor mutually acceptable times for visitation to take place.

Information regarding pastoral care need is received from the church members' expressions within prayer cards which are collected during the worship service or expressions received through or "Prayer Circle" ministry.  Phone calls are then placed in advance of the visit to determine acceptable times for calling.

Visits involve meeting, listening, sharing concerns, prayer and expressions of Christ-centered love.  Often during these times, Communion is served, scripture is shared, and prayers are given.

Currently the Visitation ministry consists of four members: Fran Huckel, Chris Zigray, Selina Neunert and Dottie Mikus, in addition to the Pastor.  All these volunteers are friendly, warm, responsible, caring individuals who use their spiritual gift for the common good of the congregation.  If anyone would like to join this volunteer effort in pastoral care or has a specific need, you can call Fran Huckel at 908-276-1279 or the Church office at 908-276-5300 for more information.
